1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Chessiic, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must be at least 13 years old to use Chessiic.

2. Description of Service

Chessiic is a web-based chess improvement platform. Features include game import, deep analysis, daily tactics challenges, blunder review, opening analysis, endgame training, and opponent scouting.

3. Accounts

• One account per person.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity under your account.
• Chessiic may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
• You may request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting support@chessiic.com.

4. Subscription and Billing

Chessiic offers a free tier and a Pro subscription at $4.99/month or $39.99/year. All payments are processed by Stripe. Chessiic never receives, stores, or has access to your credit card number.

Auto-renewal: Pro subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You will be charged the then-current subscription price at each renewal. For annual subscriptions, we will send a reminder email before your renewal date.

Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe billing portal, accessible from your profile page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to Pro features until that date.

Refunds: We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@chessiic.com.

Price changes: We may change subscription prices with 30 days advance notice. Price changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

5. Daily Bounty

The #1 scorer in daily tactics may receive a free month of Pro. This reward is promotional and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time without notice.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to manipulate scores or leaderboards.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service.
• Impersonate other users or create fake accounts.
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose.

We reserve the right to remove users who abuse the platform or manipulate the leaderboard.

7. Intellectual Property

The Chessiic name, logo, design, and code are owned by Chessiic. You receive a limited, non-exclusive license to use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You retain ownership of your uploaded avatar. By uploading it, you grant Chessiic a license to display it within the service. Chessiic does not claim ownership of your chess games or analysis results.

Puzzles are sourced from the Lichess puzzle database, available under Creative Commons. Stockfish is open-source software licensed under the GPL.

8. Third-Party Services

Chessiic integrates with third-party services including Chess.com, Lichess, Stripe, and Google. These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their availability or data practices. If a third-party service changes or becomes unavailable, affected features may be impacted.

9. Disclaimers

Chessiic is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Analysis accuracy depends on your device and browser capabilities. We do not guarantee any specific improvement in your chess rating.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chessiic's total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid to Chessiic in the 12 months preceding the claim. Chessiic is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Either party may bring claims in small claims court.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use of Chessiic after changes constitutes acceptance.
